Brownie

Basic Information

Anatomy

Brownies are upright, bipedal creatures, typically with leaner muscles and lighter bone structure. They have pointed ears and medium length tails, although some brownies have shorter tails.

Genetics and Reproduction

Brownies reproduce by sexual fertilization. Brownies typically take a full year to gestate and birth a maximum of two children. There is usually a four year gap before a brownie can have another child.

Growth Rate & Stages

Brownies grow similar to humans, but at a much slower rate.

Ecology and Habitats

Brownies reside in forests, with their burrows being partially above and below ground. Average burrows can hold around twenty to thirty brownies. Every burrow must have a menzin crystal at it's center, as brownies are unable to regenerate their own magical energy.

Dietary Needs and Habits

Brownies are vegetarian creatures, with a particular preference for fungi.

Biological Cycle

As brownies are furred creatures, they grow thicker coats for the colder seasons which shed in warmer weather, although in certain regions this may not be necessary.

Additional Information

Social Structure

Brownie burrows have an elder who guards over the menzin crystal and is trusted with major decisions for the burrow.

Domestication

A few brownies have been adopted into the homes of mages, who supply them with magical energy to substitute a menzin crystal. They often are known to help with housework in exchange.

Facial characteristics

Brownies have notable feline features, although their faces are slightly flatter and their teeth are not as sharp, due to their vegetarian diet.

Average Intelligence

Brownies have rather average intelligence.

Perception and Sensory Capabilities

Brownies have improved senses of hearing and smell, although they usually have weak eyesight. Older brownies are often completely blind.
