Kiver’s Cane

A Dreadlord’s Artifact

With the cane in hand, I never felt so much paranoia in my life. Was he always watching? Was he always there? Those clawed hands on my shoulder only confirmed what I feared most.

Appearance

Innately intended for both fashion and armament, the snake-head handle can be twisted off to unsheathe a sword with a 2-foot long blade. The handle is made of bone and is speculated to be of snakes.

The sheathe is finely carved wood like that of mahogany or walnut and has yet to be truly found in the world to replicate it. It’s believed that it’s from the Continent of Slithane.

Traits of the Cane

Should some unwanted sod obtain the cane, they will acquire a sense of paranoia that the true owner is watching. It is not a far off assumption, as the wielder is sometimes found in a disturbed state of mind as they rock back and forth on the floor. As you’d expect, the cane is absent from there person. It is documented that an unwanted wielder acquires a heartless and methodical line of thinking. Long term use often results in the person isolating themself from those they see as lesser. Kiver has said it is punishment for the misuse of his cane and the art of manipulation.

Though it may not be seen on the surface, those who have survived being slashed by the blade experience greater pain to their nerves compared to standard melee armaments. The wielder can also invoke madness into another’s mind, having them believed to be surrounded by threats.
