SolTech Industries Organization in Final Frontier | World Anvil

SolTech Industries

SolTech Industries is undisputed the most powerful corporation in all the worlds. Callbacks to the power wielded by Apple or Amazon in the 21st century are made when discussing the the energy production and shipbuilding corporate leviathan, but even those fall short when trying to summarize the might of this growing power.   Leaders in the field of fission and fusion power generation as well as advanced ship design ship design, with secondary focuses on engines and missile systems, SolTech gives the many warring nations of the five systems what they need; the ability to tear down their enemies and rend them asunder.   Lately the company has faced difficulties. Under the leadership of their past CEO, Verdun Solarin, SolTech found itself and its top notch navy spread thin throughout the systems, engaged in operations above Terra Nova and in the Luyten's system. This position is made more difficult by the recent trend of nations to steer away from their products, with fears that their power grows too strong; something which threatens to cut deep into the bottom line of the company. Both of these situations puts them at risk of finding themselves being made obsolete by the attempts of other corporations or focus groups of nations who attempt to improve on or steal their creations and customer base.   Nothing in the immediate future threatens to clear SolTech from the board of power, but these challenges pose the question to the CEO and Board of Directors of what they wish SolTech to be. A wealthy, dying, giant of the past, or the ruler of the void from present until the stars fade out? What brighter future is in store for SolTech?

Structure

SolTech Industries is lead primarily by the Chief Executive Officer of SolTech, with the charter requiring this to be an immediate member of the Solarin Family as they own the majority of shares. The CEO appoints Chief Officers, Admirals, and Generals on their own with notice granted to the board.   The Board of Directors does not have any explicit powers, but represents the nations of the systems who are interested in SolTech's success or own stocks in the company. They may request, petition, and move for certain outcomes or actions, but the CEO is the final authority on any matter.   The CEO appoints Presidents of regions to serve as the local executive authority. This is typically done with any large employee and/or dependent base voting on their choice of a local senior member as a "recommendation" which the CEO typically approves to serve a term of 10 years. The most notable of these positions are the President of Callisto and President of Ganymede, each of whom have the largest populations in the company. Smaller sites just have their presidents appointed.   Employees also have the right to elect Union Representatives. These members serve as the advisory board of employee and dependent affairs both locally and corporate wide. Judicial matters are handled via the Executive Suite and the Chief of Judicial Affairs.

Public Agenda

SolTech is a corporation focused on the betterment of humankind. Starting from their first innovation of a more efficient fission power plant that gave light to billions, to their generation of a Initial-Stage Nova Vaccine for all of humanity at no costs, the corporation has continuously attempted to paint itself in a bright light. On the other side of that coin is a corporation who understands you cannot scrap out the need for war from the species, so the next best thing is to prepare for it. With fleets of their own that rival nations, SolTech has assets poised to defend those who cannot defend themselves; but always for a price. A shining beacon of what humanity can be, and a clear image of what humanity is.

Assets

Callisto and her shipyards rank top among the corporations assets. On the moon sits more than half of the naval construction capability in the entire The Commonwealth of Man. Next would be the Military Commander Center and Base at Ganymede, which fields all of the SolTech's security forces and houses a majority of their command structure. All remaining assets are stored not in banks, but their technologies. Having spent over 300,000cr on inventions over the years, the company puts all of her assets into the next stage of advancements for her many products.

History

Founded by Verdun Solarin in 2092. Foundation unknown.

Demography and Population

The "population" of SolTech can be split into two categories. Employees of SolTech and Dependents. Employees sign a contract for a period no less than 3 years, though most stay on for life. When this contract is executed, they relinquish any citizenship to former nations and become Employees under the SolTech Charter. But these employees only make up around 30% of the population of the company, with dependents making up the remaining 60%. Dependents are given a form of dual citizenship, where they aren't required to relinquish their former citizenship but have the right to do so. Employees who work for 20 years and retire become "Citizens" of SolTech, which is more an honorary title and is more accurately called retired-employees, given the same rights and privileges as employees.
