Ankord the great homeland of the Orcish people, surrounded by endless mountain ranges with raging volcanoes and dense mysterious jungles, this land is a testament to the Orcs ability to adapt and prevail
Ankord is the homeland to the Orcs and they are the majority of the population. There are a few outsiders who call Ankord home namely
Halflings and
Elves who traded with Ankord before becoming permenant residents.
The homeland of the orcish people, and the feral gnolls.
The core pantheon for the people of Ankord are The Light Mother, The Guiding Light, The Malestrom, The Bloom Keeper, and The First Bard. Even though The Maelstrom isn't at the top of the divine heirarchy she is revered as the most important god to the natives of Ankord especially the Orcs.
Ankord's religion focuses on nature and community both through reverence and fearful respect. Nature is worshiped in the hope it will provide and also in the hope it'll keep the dangers of the natural world at bay. The Ankord are keenly aware that they are dependant on the land and sea to provide them what they need to survive.
The worship of community is vital to the Ankord way of life their whole society is built on the idea that working together makes them stronger. This also follows into their belief that they should get along with their neighbors to mutually benefit each other.
Ankord's eastern neighbour is Wisteria the Elvhen nation. First contact with the Wisterians went poorly with both sides thinking the other hostile savages. The Elves did not think the Orcs were sapient and assumed they were akin to the beasts that roamed the wilds and attacked with magic. The Orcs spooked by the Elves magical abilities assumed their attackers had to be sinister spirits of another realm.
After several years of war over a miscommunication they came to a truce. Ankord and Wisteria have a young trade agreement that they hope shall benefit their nations for generations to come. Orcs still find Elves unsettling and their magic scary. Elves still find the sheer size of Orcs and their tusks intimidating.
Ankord and Hemlock have a friendly history. When the Orcs first met the Halfling people they assumed they were children until they saw the sheer number of them. They've had a strong trade agreement for as long as both civilizations can remember. Ankord became weary of their new allies when they learned of the Hemlock military tradition of Blood Hunting. Despite these concerns Hemlock has proven to be a steadfast ally in times of need. The Halflings of Hemlock have made it no secret they admire the raw strength of the Orcish people which has lead to several Orcish Blood Hunters and a generation of Half Orc Half Halfling children.
