Transmitted in the water supply. Rarely in food contaminated by tainted water.
Causes
The bacteria that causes this are spread through the urine of infected animals, which can get into water or soil and can survive there for weeks to months.
Symptoms
loss of appetite, stuffy nose, swollen extremities, irritability, drowsiness

Washing produce with fresh water, housing domesticated animals away from the water supply
