Funerary Customs

Parora
Death rites require extensive eulogies. The immediate family of the deceased go into seclusion for a minimum of 2. It’s rare, but sometimes the dividing up property happens at this time. Most commonly that happens several days after. Bodies are burned on a pyre. The ashes that remain are left to scatter on the wind.
Life after death is different, depending on the person's life, although minor sects say the afterlife is a fiery pit for all souls.
The afterlife can be reached by the living.

  Ciheim
Rites take place no more than 3 days after death. There are extensive eulogies, and at least 8 days of receiving visitors. Bodies are cremated and then pressed into glass beads which are then kept in a clear bottle.
Life after death is dull and grey except for heroes, although minor sects say the afterlife is incomprehensible to the living.
The afterlife can be reached by living Ferali.

  Effervuansland
Death rites involve extensive eulogies. The dead are interred in crypts and catacombs depending on their station in life.
They believe the afterlife is an unhappy place for all and can be reached by the living, with effort.

  Thauland
Death rites require sacrificing small animals to accompany the deceased, clergical supervision, and often more than 13 days of seclusion for kin. Bodies are buried in water. They prefer to use the ocean, but any sufficiently deep water—such as lakes or rivers—will do.
Life after death is incomprehensible to the living, although minor sects say the afterlife is a state of enlightenment.
The afterlife can not be reached by living Ferali.

  Becina
Death rites are a public affair.
Plaster casts are made of the deceased’s face and put on display in the family home. The bodies themselves are buried in the ground, wrapped in shrouds.
Life after death is full of peace. Those who live a good life will live forever in the Afterlife while the others will wander the plains of the Underworld.
