Aramore Tower

Purpose / Function

This structure dates back to sometime in the First Age and was abandoned sometime during the Second Age. Very little is known about who its builders were or who lived there. Based on its design and interior layout historians believe that it was the stronghold of one of the many Warrior Lords of the First Age, a group that fell out of favor shortly into the Second Age.

Alterations

Sometime in the Third Age one of the upper floors was modified. The rotted wooden door was replaced with a metal one that locked shut. The door has a small rectangular barred window at face height. At the bottom is a flap that allows someone on the outside to shove things into the room.   All of the dust and debris was removed and replaced with a single bed that was anchored to the wall. The mattress is crude but offers some measure of comfort. Makeshift bars have been installed in the room's single window. In essence, the room was repurposed into a prison cell.   To make the building more secure the rotted exterior doors were also replaced on the main tower and the servant's quarters.

Architecture

The tower consists of two buildings: the main tower and the servants quarters.   The main tower is 13 stories tall and rectangular in shape. The top 4 stories are narrower than the lower portion. Tiers 9 and 13 aren't proper floors but are designed for guards to stand watch. Rounded windows are spaced around the tower's exterior.   The only way in to the tower is a large wooden door. Above this door is a round, flat stone. There's a symbol carved into this stone that none can identify. Many speculate that it belonged to the tower's original owner. Above this door is a large, rectangular window divided up by narrow stone pillars. The floors are connected with stone staircases that have stood the test of time   The servant's quarters is a two story building with a peaked roof.
