The Silver Oaths

The silver oaths are the gleaming relics of the Oathsworn Wanderers, the shattered pieces of Argen Hammerstone's ax. It is of great importance to the dwarrow, who revere them above all other artefacts. It is said that each shard contains at least one runic inscription to make a magical impact on the battlefield.

Significance

Argen Hammerstone and Orr Gildric are the only two dwarrow that have ever been given the title of Great Dwarrowking. King Argen, Orr's grandson, died by dark elves several hundred years ago. In the year 842, the dwarrow located the Oath of Endurance during the siege of Vik. The strange events surrounding its discovery were believed to be signs from Argen himself. Shortly after this, the dwarrow launched an unsuccessful quest to find the remaining shards.   The shards, deemed silver oaths, soon grew in fame. It has long been confirmed that they belong to Argen Hammerstone's ax, but the story surrounding how they were scattered is only legend. Most people say that when Argen was slain, the dark elves took his ax back to Mar-Adun, planning to melt it down to forge a new weapon. However, the runes on the ax were too strong, and though the ax glowed white hot, it could not be damaged. Finally, in a rage, the dark elves shattered the ax with much difficulty and scattered the shards all across the north. The dwarves discovered the two other oaths in more recent history. King Thorolf's predecessor Gudmundr Ironram found one of the shards while fighting the dark elves again in the west. That shard was handed down to Delling Ironfaith, and is now set inside his helm. The last shard in dwarrow possession is the Oath of Warding, found by the wandering oathbearer Hrolf Hardred.

Rarity
There are only 4 known silver oaths. One is set inside Delling Ironfaith's helmet, another hangs from Hrolf Hardred's belt, and another rests in the Casket of Vik. The last piece has been confirmed to be in the Ironwood Forest. How it got there, the dwarrow cannot figure out. But it is rumored that a sort of crusade will be launched to find the relic.
Raw materials & Components
The entire ax was made of silver, strengthened by strong runes and special metals to make a near adamantine alloy. The three oaths the dwarrow have collected contain runes of warding, endurance, and vengeance. The last oath found in the Ironwood was read by a journeying scholar as containing not one but two ancient runes: the rune of resilience and the rune of haste. It is all speculation what the other shards may contain.
