Oviexo

Oviexo is a small neighbourhood at the edges of West Tolona's capital, Monteria. It was a separate village for over 200 years before it was swallowed by the capital's expansion, and because of that, it still retains a lot of its original character. Its inhabitants tend to consider themselves Ovietans first, Monterians second.

History

Oviexo was founded as a fisher's village 300 years ago. It remained small but self-sufficient until its annexation by the capital Monteria in the beginning of the last century.
The village of Oviexo sprung into existence near mysterious ancient ruins. Sources from other parts of West Tolona claimed the ruins had originated from the battle between Felialma and Canispirito. Local inhabitants kept the story (and thus the memory of the deities) alive, and believed they were blessed and protected in return.
The annexation by Monteria caused a massive revolt with the local populace. They only calmed down (and stopped attacking public buildings in the capital) when they were allowed to keep their own administrative centre and local "government".

Architecture

Despite its small size, Oviexo boots a relative mix or architectural styles. The ruins are its main touristic attraction. They occupy about 1/4 of the whole area.
Most modern residential buildings are simple square constructions of 2 to 4 bedroom. They usually belong to the local government and are handed out to new arrivals. Older houses have a more unique style and are located at the city's Western end, at the foot of the Tolona Wall (and next to the ruins).
Public buildings vary widely in style, depending on when they were built. The City Hall has been particularly well-preserved, as the first official building of the village.
Oviexo boosts a number of small parks with trees and recreational areas for the population to socialise and enjoy the outdoors life-style.
