Hrolfi

God of Freedom and Courage Kappi Enginnson (a.k.a. Hrolfi)

Hrolfi, also known as “The First Felagi”, “The Ascended”, “The Liberator”, "Warden of Praellheim" and “Hero-God of the Felagi”, is the second god of the Felagi pantheon. Born a mortal man named Kappi Enginnson before undergoing apotheosis, reborn as the God of Freedom and Courage.

Much of his life as Kappi Enginnson has been lost to myth and legend amongst the Felagi's many revolution-era tales but the rest of Fel Drogo has well documented evidence that he undeniably led the Praellic Revolution and declared a new sovereign nation for all free Praell —who he would later rename the Felagi moments after his apotheosis— known as Praellheim.

The details of his apotheosis (ascension to godhood) are entirely unknown to the public, with the most prevalent theory being that he became a god through sheer will. The truth is Kappi Enginnson was actually the first 2nd Generation Draca, with his powers manifesting as the ability to draw power from not only his own courage but the courage of all other Felagi (exactly like the Chainmaiden does with despair). The Praellic Revolution was a period of tremendous courage which —unbeknownst to even him— supercharged Hrolfi enough to achieve apotheosis.

While his apotheosis was shrouded in mystery his divinity was laid out for all of Fel Drogo to witness. All of the various Fel Drogan leaders of the time were given visions of the apotheosis and personally attested to having met with Hrolfi to discuss the future of the Felagi. This event is well recorded by multiple parties and compiled as a testament to his divinity.

Divine Domains

Hrolfi is specifically known as the God of Freedom and Courage, but in general acts as the God of Felagi; so, while all Felagi may worship him and seek his counsel, ultimately it is those who seek his aid in the pursuit of freedom or the conquest of fear that will truly garner his blessing. The domains of Freedom and Courage are derived from his mortal life as leader of the Praellic Revolution, where his courage inspired the people to seek freedom from both their mortal oppressors and the Chainmaiden herself. When his apotheosis arrived the Felagi people's belief in him as their liberator and the embodiment of courage itself granted him those domains to fuel his divinity.   Hrolfi had once been a God of War early in his divinity but has slowly moved away from the domain. The Praellic Revolution did not shy away from violence as a means to ensure the freedom of Praell and, as a result, his apotheosis was partially fueled by the Felagi people's belief in war as means of liberation and the warrior spirit of their hero, Kappi Enginnson. However, in a post-Revolution society the need for war has dwindled and the tales of the war have lost their importance, causing Hrolfi to find his divinity lacking the warrior aspect it once embodied. Theologists who have studied Felagi apotheosis theorize that Hrolfi's domain of War would likely return to him were the Felagi people to find themselves in war again.

Divine Goals & Aspirations

Hrolfi has sworn to protect the Felagi’s freedoms but has made it clear he can no longer entangle himself in every matter of mortals; in fact, he hopes his distance will further legitimize the Felagi to the rest of Fel Drogo and ensure that they grow into a prospering people who do not look to their gods for assistance but rely upon themselves alone. The one exception being the pact he made with the rest of Fel Drogo that demands that the sovereignty of the holy land of Praellheim be recognized unless they wish to face the wrath of the hero-god personally.

As Kappi Enginnson ascended to godhood, the source of the Chainmaiden's power neared complete extinction with the liberation of the Praell and the introduction of a new deity —Hrolfi, God of Freedom and Courage— to compete for belief with. After some time spent understanding his godhood and investigating the Felagi people's connection to apotheosis and the Great Dragon, Hrolfi uncovered the Praellar Elifir: a cult of worshippers still loyal to the Chainmaiden who sought to bring back the Chainmaiden back to her full glory one day by reinstating the slavery of the Praell throughout Fel Drogo. After his disocvery, Hrolfi began a personal crusade to eradicate them before they could take control of Praellheim; thus, destroying the final vestiges of the Chainmaiden’s power and inflicting katatheosis (reverse apotheosis/returning to mortal form).
