Zimwi

Distantly related to the trolls, the swift and nimble zimwi are a plague upon central lands. Constantly hungry and ill-tempered, with the speed to run down horses, lone zimwi have been known to attack large caravans.
Legends say that the first Zimwi were created due to the aftermath of The First War. The fact that the air was permeated with such a strong aura of arcane energy, led to simple lions being strangely mutated and corrupted. These distant monstrosities mated with Trolls, and eventually led to the Zimwi we know of today.

Basic Information

Anatomy

Zimwi resemble huge lions, but prefer walking on their hind legs. Only when they run, do they make use of all four their legs.
These swift moving humanoids have long arms ending in wicked claws and jaws that open impossibly wide.

Genetics and Reproduction

Zimwi rarely mate for life. Males will often fight over a female in heat, and the victor will mate with her. She is pregnant for a year, where after she gives birth to two Zimwi cubs.

Ecology and Habitats

Zimwi prefer the high mountainous regions, where they build small villages for their clans. They hunt game, like deer and elk, around their homes, but their insatiable hunger have driven them to eating anything they can find, such as bears or even giant eagles.

Dietary Needs and Habits

Most of their atacks are driven by hunger. The stomach of a zimwi is larger than its body, extending extra-dimensionally and driving the zimwi nearly insane with the constant sensation of emptiness, as though it is starving to death.
Because of their endless hunger and low intelligence, zimwi have litle awareness of the course of a battle. Losing means only that they have not eaten. As long as they continue to feast, they fight on, feeling victorious until death comes to them or all of their prey.
Despite their raging hunger, Zimwi never turn to cannibalism. Zimwi have recounted that their flesh taste vile and atrocious.

Zimwi stick close to large mountain ranges, never fairing too far from their villages, unless their hunger drives them there.

Zimwi names are rough sounding sounds, made from the back of the throat.

Interspecies Relations and Assumptions

The mage-crafters discovered the secret to turning zimwi stomachs into extradimensional containers similar to bags of holding. Using a zimwi stomach in the creation of such items reduces the cost of materials by half.
