Thunderbird

A quad-winged, octapedal eagle native to the highest peaks of the Highlands. It has a primarily solitary life, coming together to mate and raise a chick, but any given Thunderbird can mate with anywhere from 1-5 other Thunderbirds over the course of its life.

Basic Information

Growth Rate & Stages

At birth, a Thunderbird chick can hear and can perceive its surrounding environment by changes in the electrical field around its body. It is born mostly naked, with feather shafts about to emerge. By 5 weeks, it has opened its eyes and is capable of hopping and fluttering around the nest. It is at this time the size of a medium dog. By 8 weeks of age, it can glide in short bursts. At 12 weeks, it is capable of powered flight, and is the size of a small horse. At this age, it begins to join its parents on feeding flights, capable of snagging young whales and dolphins. At 5 months, the now adolescent Thunderbird strikes out on its own, finding a place for itself among the high peaks.

Ecology and Habitats

Thunderbirds reside among the high peaks at the shore of the Eastern Sea, with adults often seen soaring over the deeper waters just barely visible from shore.

Dietary Needs and Habits

Thunderbirds hunt among the coastal peaks and out over the edges of the Eastern Sea, primarily eating medium to large cetaceans. They are rarely seen, but often fly through the electrical storms of the area.

Biological Cycle

The early lifecycle of the Thunderbird is largely unknown, as their nest are inaccessible by foot, and jealously defended from the air.
