The Storm Within
The active variant of a magic-influencing condition found in humans and Aveskah dwelling in the Highlands region. Seemingly activated by prolonged altitude exposure during puberty, this condition allows the individual to influence, and eventually control, the weather in their immediate vicinity.
Causes
The magical "spark", on prolonged exposure to altitude during puberty, settles into the form of an internal storm when viewed by another magic-user.
Symptoms
The spark manifests a micro-climate around the mageling, allowing them to channel the internal storm to influence and control the weather factors of the environment around them.
History
The first recorded case of the Storm was in 239, when the powers of Lyra Bilar Kestrai began to manifest.
Cultural Reception
As Lyra kept her powers a secret until her full control in 244, there was an immediate positive reception, as the Storm was used to defend her home and nestmates. As she only used her powers for the good of the Stormlords, and tutored new Stormcallers in their powers, they rapidly became an accepted and important piece of Highland society.
