Silver Woods
The dense forests of the Silver Woods take their name form the bark of the Northern Ash trees that make up the majority of the forest. The bark of these trees is almost luminescent at night, glowing with a silvery light. The wood is highly prized for carving and construction. Supply becomes something of a problem, as the forest is jealously protected by the elves who call the forest home. While they do a steady trade in deadwood that is excess to the forest's needs, the cutting of live wood is looked upon...poorly.
Geography
The Silver Woods is honestly a bit of a misnomer, as it should really be termed a large forest. It covers an area nearly two-thirds the size of the Western Steppes in dense, deep forest. The trees range from the luminous Northern Ash that give the forest its name to the mighty Titanes. Titanes are lords of the forest, with trunks larger than a castle tower, and able to support entire clans of elves on a single enormous limb.
Fauna & Flora
The Silver Woods is almost a single enormous organism, with elves as the cleaners and immune system of the forest. Northern Ash trees are the capillaries, with Oakes as the mid-sized veins and arteries, and the Titanes forming the nerve center of the forest. The Heartwood is a forest-within-a-forest, a cluster of Titanes and Oakes that form the Forest. The Forest, as an entity, has a rudimentary intelligence, able to only communicate basic needs to the elves. A basic psychic gestalt consisting of the entire forest has a vague awareness beyond itself, but its primary concern is its own wellbeing. Interestingly enough, it has apparently gotten as big as it wishes, and seeks only to maintain where it is at. The Forest believes that any further expansion would result in a weakening of the Forest's edge, with factors like poor soil quality and salty wind off the Western Ocean cited as examples.
Natural Resources
Being a forest, the primary resource is wood, which is occasionally exported when the forest no longer requires it.
