Itham
Entering the 23rd hall, Rogter looked up in awe at the mine workings. Stretching into darkness in all directions, the lanterns of the miners glinted off the itham. Lodes of itham ran vertically through the vast chamber, ranging in size from a finger's width to thrice the height of a bull Minotaur. The slitted eyes of delvings dotted the walls of the hall, stretching into the bones of the mountains like root systems. Hundreds of halls there were, in each hold, and dozens of holds in the Bronze Crest. The works of the dwarves truly held up the world, thought Rotger.
Properties
Material Characteristics
Itham is a steel-grey stone that seems to glimmer with reflected light. Red Dwarves mine it for building material, as its immense strength makes it an ideal material for fortresses and other areas requiring sturdy protection.
Physical & Chemical Properties
A metal with a cystalline appearance, it is extremely strong, and seems to give off a faint, blueish-white light when viewed in pure darkness. It can be worked with a bit more effort than steel, and is unforgiving of mistakes. Once tempered, it is nigh-impossible to break with force. Of course, with sufficient heat and pressure it will bend and flex, but it needs to be nearly melting before yielding.
Geology & Geography
Itham is found in mighty lodes throughout the Bronze Crest . It is rare enough beyond the mountains that it fetches a high price at market, and is found in the mid- to deep- levels of most dwarf holds.
