City gliders

Within the walls of Concordia, the countryside has a more harmoneous and orderly relationship with the fey than in the chaotic jungles outside of the walls. Nevertheless, there are not many fey that can be found away from the natural fields and streams and forests. Many of them are repelled by the presence of metal and concrete. However, there is one species of fey that has adapted surprisingly well to living in urban environments.

The city glider is small cat-sized fey creature that has taken a liking to any sort of trash left on the streets and in the bins of unwatchful citizens. They most closely resemble black-and-copper striped flying squirrels, but with long tufts on their ears, a loose inflatable skinflap around their neck, and a long prehensile tail. At night, their coats light up with patterns of bioluminescent spots and stripes, in green, pink, or blue. When threatened or when intimidating rivals for a mate, they inflate the skin flap to a disc around their head and make a croaking or bellowing sound as a warning. When this sack is deflated, it releases a puff of gas that is highly irritating to the eyes and can temporarily blind an assailant.

City gliders are usually very shy and gentle creatures that would sooner run or hide than fight. They collect trash of any kind, eat anything that's edible, and bring anything non-edible to their nest. They tend to leave the city streets cleaner than they find them, so their presence can be appreciated. However, if not provided with appropriate nest boxes, they will take the opportunity to nest under roofs, in cellars or attics, or sometimes around trashcans, which can make them quite a nuisance. While still having a weakness to metal when it comes into contact with their blood, they are not repelled by its presence and even gather things like tin cans as much as any other form of garbage.
