Origins of the Free States of Farore

Long ago, the humanoids of Farore wandered without direction. Infighting brought death and destruction to their lives. However, one man was able to rise up and quell those dissonant voices. Through his kindness and strong leadership, the people began to prosper. Whenever they came upon another struggling group, they invited them in and gave them sustenance. Eventually, they came to be the first tribe of the north. This man had brought peace to the region and caught the eye of a goddess, Nedra, the Welcomer, . Appearing before him as a mortal, Nedra bore four children. She named them Yulmi Calcurn, Razin Elm, Altum Green, and Antinua Lysander. Giving them to the man she loved, Nedra departed to watch from afar.   After many years, the man passed into Takrisis' hands and the children began to compete for the leadership of the tribe. Each was as persuasive as their father and had the magnetism of a god, but each wanted the tribe for themselves. Nedra, in an attempt to salvage the tribe, led the people to a magical gateway in the north. Opening the gate, Nedra bestowed three gifts of power to each of her children. However, rather than bring the four children together, her gifts only drove them further apart. Seeking to eliminate each other, the tribe fell into civil war. Using their gifts to the fullest potential, the bloodshed was great and the people nearly wiped out. Finally, Nedra appeared and stopped the fighting with righteous anger. She took back the gifts she had once given, closed the gate, and banished her own children from her sight. Nedra overlooked all that her kids had wrought as well as her anger, and in that moment, felt a deep anguish. Promising to never directly interfere with the world again so long as the gate remained closed. As the groups of people wandered away, they named themselves after the child they had fallen as a reminder of their covenant with Nedra. Thus, the Calcurnam, Lysandra, Highgreen, and Elmridge tribes were born.
