The Searing Breath

The Searing Breath is the first and foremost of humanity's Standards. They represent the human ideal of Conviction.
Devotees of the Searing Breath, popularly called Unbroken, are really only affiliated by the foremost ideal of their humanity. Unbroken are masters of self fulfilling prophecies and are renowned for their courage. At their strongest, they are unstoppable warriors of endurance and tenacity.
Most Unbroken begin their journey of Shedim Mastery being cowards or ostracized members of society. As they grow, they learn to disregard the fear they feel towards others and become people who are unapologetically themselves. They tend to be the most varying in personality among the Standards, as so long as you are devoted to freeing your true self and won't give up in the face of great odds, the Searing Breath will fit.
Like all Standards, the Searing Breath has its five mantras that help Shedim Masters grow their power and themselves as people.
The first mantra acknowledges their strengths in being unwavering and willful. The second mantra warns the devotees the dangers of taking these strengths too far and succumbing to weakness. For the Searing Breath, that is rashness and endangerment. The third mantra emphasizes the one thing the Unbroken believe hatred is acceptable towards. For the Searing Breath, that is the fear of the opinions of others. They despise submission to this weakness, as they believe that is the lowest a human can sink to. The fourth mantra tells the Unbroken what it means to be strong. With all Standards, True Strength cannot exist without True Weakness. For the Searing Breath, on a very small scale, True Strength is being themselves despite the risk that someone may think badly of them for doing so.
The Fifth mantra describes why they believe they can defeat Despair and how they are invulnerable to it. The Searing Breath is invulnerable to being stricken with fear. This is because they believe Despair cannot match them in willpower and thus, cannot pose a threat to the Unbroken.

Structure

All members except for the Prime Devotary are equal in status. The Prime Devotary is only responsible for teaching others about the Standard and leading them in combat.

Culture

Unbroken see the world as a cruel place where only those tenacious enough can survive. They believe that everything in life comes as a result of effort and belief in oneself, but acknowledge that this ideal can go too far in their second mantra. Above all, they despise fear as their ideals' True Weakness.

History

During the first Armageddon Event, the Searing Breath was the first Standard to appear and functioned as elite warriors who could turn the tide in any battle. Members of the Searing Breath are popular heroes in folklore, though their ideals are rarely ever seriously considered and seen as foolishness.
