A well-lit vibrantly intoxicating room, filled with joyous laughter, enduring song and the most tantalising aromatic fragrances entice all your senses as you step through the doorway of this most well-known and infamous of taverns, welcome to The Fat Swine.
Some say it was the first building built in the city, others say “The World” but no one can remember a time when it wasn’t there.
Named after its owner and has never served pork, this tavern has never closed its doors, in fact it has no front door, having never been replaced after unsuccessfully breaking the fall of an unfortunate soul who never really got all the feeling back in his body, but that was on the second night of business, a very long time ago and so much has happened since.
The Fat Swine is the most visited tavern in the city. It lays on the edge of the market square just a block from the harbour area and right next door to The Cat's Purse.
Pirates, merchants, soldiers and nobles have all sat at this establishment, everyone is welcome and no one is turned away. Any bard worth listening to in the whole of Faolan has played a tune or two from the raised stage fondly called, The Altar, but it is the Half-Kalvarian Truven ( aka The Fiddler) who entertains tonight's revellers with his song and dance.
All structural work and repairs to the building has always and is still done by Greystone & Sons, a resident Dwarven building company who subsequently do most of the civil works for the city too.
Every 5 years or so, the building is altered to fit with the current decor of the city, and as Najankora is predominantly a pirate haven, there is a lot of locally sourced wood which makes up most of its structure. Bright colors and mounted trophys of all shapes and sizes adorn the walls of the common area and a large fireplace keeps it warm every night. After burning down one fateful night, Skydar had the kitchen rebuilt in Travillion Mountain stone which has left it somewhat fire resistant and with a coolness throughout the year. Masterchef Braygan (aka The Cook) does most of the cooking and all of the shouting here in his domain, assisted by his two apprentices, Rodrick & Modley.
Service
Patrons are not spoilt for choice as far as the menu goes but the flavour and quality is unmatched throughout Najankora, and thats just the food. The drinks on offer constantly change in flavour but retain the same name and are always served with a joyful smile by one of Braygan & Martha's seven daughters; Lisabet, Viola, Stella, Eve, Fiona, Lillian and Selma (one set of triplets and two sets of twins). There is a dish that is not on the menu called, Yesterdays which is freely available to whoever askes, though one is never sure from which yesterday it came.
It is an interesting tavern, but how is it named after its owner? Is that present tense or did you mean founder instead? Founder would make more sense to me as it has never served pork. What does it look like with it being so old? As Shadow Malachi said you have so much room to expand upon what you have.
