Asharqora (ash-ɑɹ-'ko-ɹə / ash-ar-KOH-ruh)
This becomes the home of my heroine after the events of Chapter Two, and the setting of most of the rest of the book from there on.
Demographics
Government
Ruled by the King and Queen of Chailara from Arqora Castle on the rise, but also has a city council in place to do more of the day-to-day ruling/oversight. The Council Leader is appointed by the King, while the council is a mix of leader-appointees and elders from all walks of life who have become speakers for a segment of the population.
Infrastructure
As the settlement grew, some clever head of state had them plan the city around a central forum (called market square) with primary streets on each side, around which more functional businesses are formed. The smaller streets between are home to the residential neighborhoods, though the neighborhoods vary from internal, with little to no yard and no space for livestock, to external, with yards for animals or workspaces. Almost all of the city buildings are stone, though they vary in style due to rebuilding and renovating earlier sections. On the forum is a meeting hall (City Hall TBD) where the city council works from and always has someone in place to deal with emergencies. Not far from the forum is the bathhouse,

History
This is the site of the original Clan Ilara settlement after the Reelcana River Flood, when the clan chief set his people to stay in one place while repairs and recovery efforts were undertaken. The fort was built on a slight rise, and the city lies over the area that had likely started as tents and slowly became permanent housing and workspace for the clan.
