Anonymous Chronicle
While it's been termed a chronicle by the Feshaesian scholar who discovered it, deep in archives tucked behind other very old books almost as though it had been intentionally "misplaced", the scraps of vellum stitched cautiously together along one side are little more than what's left of that chronicle. A group of Feshen scholars (inclusing Aneirin) translated the old dialect and researched as many of the landmarks referenced, but they were limited by the fact this was outside their territory, and if anyone else had made note of the landmarks, they hadn't been considered important enough to relate to a distant library's resources.
Without this discovery, Prince Corentin would never have risked traveling north, which will lead to him meeting Ria (Book Three). The newer, northward movements of Feshaesian troops including the Attack on Epraisia are also vaguely a response to this discovery (timeline for Unification changed), and those are what led King Finian to send word to bring his daughters to the capital (Inciting Incident, Book One).
Purpose
This is a travel log kept by an unknown author regarding his trading trip into the Midlands. The later entries that remain of the log are all dealing with a time he was lost, alone, after having been attacked by an unknown group that killed his people and took his wares, and how he was found by a druid in the wilds and nursed to health in a hidden village.Publication Status
This was clearly a personal travel log, and as such, it's assumed to be the only copy—if the last four scraps of vellum can even be considered "a copy". It is possible these were copied from a different source, but the way the journal entries do not begin and end at the top of a page makes it less likely.Legacy
The discovery of this chronicle was immediately given to the royal family, and though they have not accepted it as fact as yet, the mere existence of this gave them cause to believe some of the druidic legends had more basis in fact than previously trusted.
