Mental characteristics

Personal history

Even is protective by nature and has much curiousity towards the world, which means he’s radically different from the rest of the Narakka. He’s never been quite that afraid of anything, earning him a foolhardy reputation. His woodworking skills, while fine, were never the expected standard of his kind. He’s only ever earned two rings to his tail, one for learning to work wood at all, and other for ability to make musical instruments.   He knew very early on that he wanted to do something different, something that would allow him to protect others. In Laventha the Narakka are not allowed to join the military as soldiers due to their protected status, so he left for Eberethis and joined an army there. As a result his family mourned for him like they mourn for their dead because that was what he clearly would become.   Eberethis needed all the soldiers they could get as they were at the time in war (Liberation of Avaludes) with Hassirgia, but the military officials were initially hesitant to let Even join because of Narakka’s protected status at their home country. Eventually it got clarified through diplomats that they are protected in Laventhan soil but are most definitely not Laventhan property and so Even should be free to do whatever he wants outside the borders of Laventha.   Still, his career would have been very short-lived if not for the sheer coincidence that he was assigned to a unit with a freshly promoted captain who had different ideas about what made a working unit. That is how he met Lithia for the first time. During his years serving in her unit he learned to respect her highly as a role model, but he also fell in love with her.   Even left the army soon after the war was over, when Lithia announced her engagement to General Varalen Kharakos. Intent on learning to value himself as high as he valued others, and to become more independent he went back home to Heilos and joined the city guard. Heilos is a fairly relaxed city and Even could manage the job just fine, but to his family the job was still one of reckless danger so he wasn't accepted back to the colony.   Learning to stand on his own was the goal though, so the rejection was probably a good thing. He missed his old unit at the army and struggled to connect with his new guard mates, but slowly he got to a point where he could say he was happy with his life and himself. And at that point Lithia reappeared in his life, very much not a wife of anyone. It was not long after that when the two decided to try if a relationship between them could work.

Gender Identity

Even doesn't care about gender or pronouns so anything is fine but it's usually male and he/him. Karakka only have one gender, the pronoun for which is venn in their own language. Karakka are insular species though and tend to view informing other species about such things as too much of a hassle, so they usually go with whatever it is that other species assume. Without chest binding this is usually female but in Even's case it's male due to general body shape and breasts small enough to not be visible under clothing. He's fine with anything in general but also knows it does earn him different treatment from time to time.

Sexuality

Being Karakka, gender doesn't have much to do with who Even is attracted to. It is unusual though for him to be openly attracted to species other than his own, as that would be something a regular Karakka would try to suppress as completely as they could.

Employment

Namely a soldier in Eberethian army, where he did learn to defend himself at least. With little physical prowess and actual aptitude for weapons and fighting, his role soon turned into something of a unit mascot and a great unity and morale booster, which suited the plans of his captain, a Karni called Lithia, just fine.   After leaving the army and Eberethia he went home to Laventha, becoming a guard at his home city, Heilos, a job that he likes and is surprisingly good at.

Intellectual Characteristics

Even has great emotional intelligence, being able to talk, relate to, and help others with greater ease. He's not a great woodworker according to Karakka standards, but is good at making musical instruments, especially flutes. He's also quite skilled at playing them.

Personality Characteristics

Motivation

Even's primary motivation has always been a vague desire to be something more. It gets him to act but in a way that is pretty aimless. He looks up to people that are strong, motivated, and good at various things but it takes him a while to learn to actually look up to them as examples to strive towards instead of just unattainable idols. They motivate him both ways but the true personal growth only happens once he learns to really work for his goals.

Social

Family Ties

Even's family considers him dead and has mourned him for his continued disrespect towards Karakka traditions and refusal to adopt a respectable profession.
