Fallout: Texas

4/22/2210

During the Great War, bombs fell. Big bombs. Lots of bombs. Civilization crumbled, factions of survivors ward over already dwindling resources, many, many people died... But as you might have guessed, Humanity persisted, clinging to existence with desperate strength and blood-soaked fingers.   Now in the year 2210 Humanity still lingers in many forms. Cyborgs, Mutants, minds trapped in computers, and many normal (if highly irradiated) people. They fight daily for their continued existence, from sickness, areas of intense radiation, hideously mutated and overgrown wildlife, and even other wastelanders who happens to want something they have...   In the once great state of Texas life is just as hard as anywhere else. Scorpions, Fire Ants, and Mosquitoes continue to plague the land, but in exponentially larger sizes. Giant Rattlesnakes are as likely to hunt you as your livestock. The cities of Houston and Dallas are glowing craters, and in the middle the cities of San Antonio and Austin suffered freakishly identical fates; malfunctioned warheads that continue to melt and warp the respective areas to this day in a slow burn of irradiated hellfire.   But along with the residents, hope still lives. As largely an agricultural State before the war, brahmin thrive. Farms out of the way of major cities yield moderate crops. Streams and creaks cris-cross the hills with considerably mild radiation. And the shining stars of the redounded Texas Rangers keep the peace across most of the state. As long as you've got a valiant (or at least crafty) heart, and a perceptive eye, Texas isn't a bad spot to settle down. Or make a wasteland fortune....
