Star Fire Sea

In the Uttermost East, further than the Land of the Blue Wizards, there is said to be a place known as the Star Fire Sea. This we know from the few sailors who have been there and the traders that have journeyed from there to our capital Julianopolis.    The Star Fire Sea is said to have been created a millennia when a star fell from the heavens and crashed into a low coastal plain. The earth rose up in a ring  and the central portion was flooded as the ocean waters rushed in. A few smallish islands were left in the center, how and why know one knows. As the ash and dust fell it mingled and mixed with the fires and waters causing what we can only call an alchemical reaction.    The alchemy caused the waters to forever remain a bright glowing fluorescent teal color. Furthermore crystals of every imaginable color grew within the water and burst forth to create an extremely dangerous reef to navigate. The largest crystals growing closest to the central islands. The crystals have been proven to be very helpful in the making of fetishes, talismans and foci by the arcane guilds. They are however, very difficult to obtain.   The region around the Star Fire Sea is abundant with life. One can find the typical plants and animals that have always been there. Yet the closer they get to the sea or central islands the more pronounced the vibrant colors become in their skins and hides. A red deer might have a hue more resembling crimson. These new colorations apparently offer no boon or disability. It does give opportunity for those who provide for the exotic pet markets to find new and interesting companion animals for their clients.    The Star Fire Sea is not without danger. It is rumored that a most ancient of dragon has taken residence there. No one can be certain. It has been noted that from time to time other dragons seemingly go on what could be considered a pilgrimage to the central islands. Time will tell what will be learned as more people brave the region.
