Aquilar's Yacht Vehicle in Fallen Tolendra | World Anvil

Aquilar's Yacht

This is the tale as passed down through the ages from the time of the Mage War. When wonderous magic was lost as the greatest magi attempted to stop the fiend Spellbinder.   Near two thousand years ago the great archmage Aquilar to test his skill at enchanting created an arcane ship to be his personal yacht. A ship that could sail across any terrain and would always be comfortable regardless of the  climate no matter how hot or cold. Aquilar is said to have used wood from the rare Balboa tree. Wood so light, yet as strong as steel. To caulk the wood he used a mixture of air elemental tears, the feathers of ten thousand swans and the seed of a dragon. Easily obtained then, when there were many dragon slayers.    The sails were woven of the finest silk and unicorn hair. No expense was given to creature comforts one might find on board. When fully enchanted the yacht did sail across land, water, and even fire. So say the histories.   When the war against Spellbinder reached a phase where he was under siege in his tower, Aquilar was called upon to  help. It was thought his yacht could breach the magical defenses of the maze like garden surrounding the tower. Once,  twice,  thrice Aquilar attempted to penetrate the arcane defenses. Defenses still active to this  day. It was to no avail, each  attempt failed as Aquilar found he and his yacht were mystically transported to the other side of the tower garden defenses. On  the fourth attempt it is thought that Spellbinder grew bored with  this and adjusted the magics to send the yacht much further away. Some  say this is what allowed the brave band of holy knights to make way through the garden and enter the tower,  though no one knows what happened with certainty all that can be said is Spellbinder and the knights vanished as none were ever seen again. Yet still the tower and gardens remain on the  shores of the  Lady's slippers.   As for Aquilar and his  yacht it was last seen over the Womb of Dragons, where several dragons took to  the air to fight against Aquilar. Perhaps they  were offended at how one of their kind was used in the creation of the  yacht. The yacht sailed on and is thought to have landed somewhere in the Dragon spine mountains. As for Aquilar only a charred hand remained, only recognized by his signet ring.
