Fallen Kingdom

A once proud nation of the Sun, reduced to a fraction of it's former power, grounded on the lands it once flew so high above.

Government

The Fallen Kingdom has been ruled by Queen Solina Radios since it's creation; a monarchy ruled by the one who can raise the sun. While she has advisers, both domestic and militant, the final say resides with Queen Solina, as she holds full power over the Kingdom. Beloved by her people and her efforts to maintain peace, she'll often be busy most of the day dealing with various guilds, individuals, ambassadors and advisers.

Defences

Stone walls reinforced with re purposed brass scraps, with towers lining the perimeter.

Industry & Trade

The Fallen Kingdom used to be a trading hub, using their airships to trade between nations and taking a nice cut for transportation. However, as they were very protective of their Sunstones, trade was limited to a single platform that acted like a large market, with their airships ferrying people from various kingdoms to the markets and back. During the crash, the survivors who managed to evacuate from the farther platforms by gliding down with the airships before the platforms fell were taken to the Council, a large tower where Kingdom leaders would meet to discuss politics; a relief camp was set up for these people. After the crash, the location of the Fallen Kingdom was unknown, as they controlled the airships and their travel, with the Kingdom often floating to new areas, and any travel records were lost with the Kingdom. The Sun Kingdom survivors and airships had seen that the crystals were causing the explosions before evacuation, and had ripped them from the airships before leaving, making them only able to glide, and once landed, permanently grounded.

Infrastructure

Once an impressive and radiant kingdom of well-constructed stone and brass, the Fallen Kingdoms newer buildings and repairwork has left the city with a grey-stone look. Several chunks of Sunstone are still connected to parts of the fallen kiingdom, leaving some them floating at varying heights above the ground; the Fallen have incorporated these vertically raised chunks into their re-building efforts, giving the rebuilt city more verticality then it had before. The old buildings that survived the crash have been repaired, but their initial damage still shows in contrast to the newer buildings, which lack the various cracks and missing parts, but in turn do not share the same marble and brass design.

Guilds and Factions

The Amethyst guild, who handled the cultivation and magical empowerment of Sunstones for their various uses around the Sun Kingdom. The largest and most politically prominent guild, are now but a shell of their former selves after the death of several key members during the crash, and the blame of being responsible for it. Post-crash, they mostly just maintain the existing ones that are now incorporated into the building structure of the Fallens rebuilding efforts. The other guilds are a mixture of smaller, industry-focused guilds, like the merchant, agricultural and crafts guilds.

History

The Fallen Kingdom once floated amongst the clouds on floating islands and platforms, powered by the Sunstones they produced. Travelling above various biomes around the world, often yet uncharted by mappers, they would use empowered Sunstones to raise land from the ground below, safely purge the dangerous elements, then mine the Sunstones / any other valuable resources, then inhabit the new land; growing their city with each raised island. The Amethyst guild would handle these land-raises and anything involving the Sunstones, from retrieval to usage. With the support of both the other trade guilds and Queen Solina, they unveiled their largest, most concentrated Sunstone to date, in an attempt to pull up the largest piece of land yet. While the exact cause is uncertain, be it hubris, sabotage or greed, the Sunstone cracked, overfilled with magic. It ruptured in a violent chain of explosions across the platforms and islands, corrupting the magic surrounding the kingdom and the other Sunstones. This caused the kingdom to begin to fall towards the grounds below; some islands attempted to evacuate, but only the market platform managed to use airships to escape. In a desperate attempt to protect as many as she could, the Queen used her magic to place a protective bubble around as many of the Islands as she could; her quick thinking saved many of her people, but the majority were lost in the impact, creating a massive crater that wiped out almost all life in a large radius. In shielding her people however, the princess's magic was tainted by the corrupted Sunstones and the corrupt energy they released, corrupting both her, and the survivors. These survivors were marked with monstrous features, missing flesh, and a paleness of cover. As time went on and the Kingdom began to recover, the following generations lost several features, with now only a few "monstrous" traits carrying through, and a general paleness of color affecting the population. Queen Solina is the only one who still bears the full brunt of the Sunstones corruption.

Geography

Initially, the crater was barren and grey, devoid of life after the massive impact of an entire Kingdom smashing into the ground below. As time went on however, the lands adapted to the new corruption, and life returned to the crater; both flora and fauna. However, the corrupted magics have affected everything inside of the crater, resulting in a "paleness" once you cross the threshold of the craters borders. With the mixture of multiple biomes from the Kingdom, and the corrupted magic, a mixture of exotic plants and animals, combined with corruption, give the region a strange, monstrous feel.
