The Outriders
Founded by the hobgoblin warrior Maljar Wolfheart, The Outriders are a collection of local hunters, rangers, and scouts who advance into the wilderness to keep travelers safe and gather intelligence on nearby threats. Specializing in stealth and wilderness survival, they scope out dangerous locations from afar for other more skilled fighters to investigate more thoroughly. They also serve the settlement of Ambervale by protecting roadways and farms from predators and providing advance warning should larger foes draw too close to town.
Maljar formed the group with the intention of supping crucial support to an eventual attack on the hobgoblin warlord Rexgar's stronghold; however, it seemed equally important to secure the area immediately surrounding Ambervale to make traveling short distances safer for the populace, as well as their own forces. This "over-step" has drawn the ire of Commander Gran Thornstan, leader of the Ambervale Town Watch. Commander Thornstan has on several occasions attempted to sabotage Maljar's efforts and those of the Outriders.
However, the Outriders remain undaunted, even recently acquiring a property on the outskirts of town. The tower, previously owned by a wizard but having since fallen into disrepair, will serve as barracks and training grounds, as well as a place to discuss plans, draft maps, and research threats. Here they can survey the town for danger, train new recruits, and further advance into the wilds of Falder Fell.
Maljar has also made connections with the newly started Emerald Eye, a guild focused on arcane research and study, in the hopes that they can work together to tackle some of the larger magical dangers in the Fell, like Rexgar, the other hobgoblin armies, and beyond.
