Beatrix

Beatrix is a giant spider whose territory encompasses a wide swath of land to the west of the stone bridge that crosses the Green River northeast of Ambervale. Residents of Gruff Stuff's Bandit Camp seemed to believe that entering Beatrix's lair amounted to a death sentence for unprepared travelers.

...Jade ran off a few days ago after break'n into the treasury. Tower watch said she took off cross the stone bridge, can't believe she made it over, she was always pretty cleaver though. I'm not crazy enough to chase after her into Beatrix's nest. I don't think Jade is cleaver enough to have made it out of there. Can't tell the gang the robbed us so well out, they'd lose trust in mi leadership. Can't believe someone would rob our hard earned treasure like that...

Despite this ominous warning, a group of adventurers braved Beatrix's lair after making a tentative agreement with the spider to aid it in catching an owlbear. Inside, they found her lair occupied by hundreds--if not thousands--of her children. Beatrix was able to speak with the adventurers due to her time spent with the drow of Dark's Row.
