Reliquary in Fairweather | World Anvil

Reliquary

When we look for people to work in the Reliquary, the most fundamental requirements are a steadiness of mind and hand.

Edna Parks, Personnel Section Chief

The Service has recovered a number of curious arcane, occult, and exotic items. Some of these retain the properties that brought them to the attention of the Service. Others have been, for lack of a better word, expended. Items that have been rendered safe might be returned to their owners or sent to museums, if appropriate. Those that are considered still dangerous are kept in secure locations where they can be monitored.   Within the Service, this is known as the Reliquary.

Artifacts

Artifacts are either items for which no legitimate use has been found or which are considered too dangerous for use, even by Service personnel. These items are kept in the various Reliquary storage vaults, most of which are located within Fairweather.   Artifacts cannot be removed from Reliquary Storage, even for purposes of examination, without the written approval of the Artifacting and Investigations Section Chiefs. Form R-121 is used for this purpose. If the Artifact is to be removed from the Reliquary entirely, the written approval of the Director-General is required. This requires Form R-125 if the removal is temporary, Form R-126 if the removal is expected to be permanent, and Form R-128 if the item is to be destroyed.

Equipment

The Service has a number of items that have either been discovered or invented internally that are used for dealing with incidents. This equipment is generally kept in an area of the Reliquary known as the Arsenal. A item's presence in the Arsenal does not mean that it is safe to use.   All equipment requires the approval of the Investigations Section Chief using Form R-141 before it can be removed from the Arsenal. If an item is lost, damaged, or destroyed, Form R-144, R-145, or R-146 respectively must be submitted, along with supporting documentation and any witness reports.
