Motzny Ponton

Motzny Ponton (born 10 Nightal 1468) is a male half-orc adventurer from the city of Waterdeep.

Physical Description

General Physical Condition

Constantly training Motzny tries his best to be in his peak physical condition, continually pushing himself to his physical limits.

Body Features

Standing at six feet, five inches tall, and weighing in at 281 pounds, Motzny Ponton is a brutish man. He has longer black hair that he usually ties up. His amber eyes contrast his orcish grey skin. Motzny has a number of scars, each of them showing a stab, slash, or the piercing of an arrow through his skin.

Facial Features

Motzny has a large scar from the right side of his jaw, that reaches up to his nose. This peaks its way though his long black beard, leaving bare skin where the balde once strook.

Identifying Characteristics

Motzny's large height and muscle mass, make him stand out in a crowd of even most adventurers. His long beard and dreadlocks are fairly uncommon for the region of waterdeep, where he commonly operates. If any bare skin is visable below his body clad head to toe in plate armour, the scars littering his skin let him be recognised.

Apparel & Accessories

Motzny wears his armour mostly, a set of plate armour with a torso lerngth blue and white surcoat. Along his belt is a drinking horn, water skin, and 3 silvered handaxes. Motzny has a number of rings in his beard and dreadlocks, and as well as his fingers.

Specialized Equipment

Motzny has a magical greataxe that he procured during his days of adventuring, and a belt of dwarvern kind which has made his beard even thicker than it once was.

Personal history

Motzny was born on a small farm outside the city of Waterdeep to a human woman and a passing orc vagabond. Once he had grown older, Motzny's father discreetly visited (to not bring attention to what he saw as a mistake) in order to teach Motzny orcish and train him. Motzny worked for the mercenary group ‘Sundar’s Company’ for two years, until they were brutally slaughtered in a battle against another mercenary group, ‘Crescent Company’ and Motzny ran away. There is still a bounty on his head from other mercenary groups from abandoning the battle and saving himself. Seen as a deserter, Motzny seeks to prove himself in the world of mercenaries and fighters alike.

In autumn 1492 DR, Motzny was involved in recovering a cache of 500,000 gold pieces embezzled by Lord Dagult Neverember. A year later, he and his adventuring band delved into Undermountain. After the months spent delving the dungeon, and the party had split apart, he met Lady Faestra Aldra while selling some elvish artifacts. She persuaded him to provide the muscle for her group of "retrieval experts" that were in dire need of it.

Education

Motzny was educated by his town's elders, his mother, and discretely by his vagabond father. His father taught him much about what he knows about Orc culture and history.

Employment

Motzny worked for the mercenary group where he reached the rank of Lieutenant in ‘Sundar’s Company’ for two years. This was until they were brutally slaughtered in a battle against another mercenary group, ‘Crescent Company’.

Accomplishments & Achievements

Motzny fought with bravery and honour for 'Sundar's Company' for two years, collecting a serious number of kills directly, and under his command.

Failures & Embarrassments

While leading a battle against Crescent Company’ who were working for an enemy, Motzny's men were slaughtered as they were outflanked. Motzny made this mistake as he was far too busy seaking the glory of killing their commander. Once realising his grevious mistake he ran away into the woods to the sounds of cheers from Cresent Company. Motzny has since been hiding from the shame of this battle.

Mental Trauma

The crippling defeat of his company and the thought of his pride being challenged weigh heavy on him. Motzny tries to hide this past with a disposition of pride, strength, anger, and courage. These emotions often take over during fights and Motzny can often become overzealous with his engaements with enemies, making sure to always watch his flanks, and kill an enemy at any chance.

Intellectual Characteristics

Strong armed and possibly even more strong-minded, Motzny is very narrow minded. Motzny will very rarely admit he is wrong and would rather fight than admit as much.

Morality & Philosophy

Motzny belives that ideals, beliefs, and philosphy shouldn't be fought over, they are never worth dying over or killing over. The only reason Motzny kills is for money and to keep on living.

Motivation

After suffering a serious defeat, Motzny is now driven by proving the shame he, and other place upon him. His personal mentality is within a world of idealists and power hungry maniacs, it is either kill or be killed. This has served him well, as he has killed and will kill for coin.

Contacts & Relations

Motzny has a number of contacts through his past as a mercenary but has hiden himself from them as much as he can, as many of them see him as a coward. Motzny has worked with a group of adventuers for some time and has a joint business venture with them, partially owning a tavern. Motzny is also a former member of the Harpers, having left to pursue his own path.

Religious Views

Motzny followed the teachings of the devout of Waukeen, believing the golden lady would bring him fortune.

Social Aptitude

Motzny is very proud and will talk about his accomplishments for hours on end if anyone is unwise enough to ask. He has a bit of an ego but much of which has been very damaged in his past. He is rather extroverted and very happy to drink, rest, and fight with anyone who can do any of those well. Motzny has been known to speak, and swing first, leading to a number of awkward interactions.

Speech

Motzny speaks with a loud and deep, tone that commands respect and attention with nearly every word. Motzny has used this voice (along with his axe) to command and intimidate many people in his life, and work.

Special Equipment. Motzny wears a amulet of health and a suit of +1 plate (accounted for in his statistics). He wields a +1 greataxe.
Orcish Fury (1/day). When Motzny is reduced to 0 hit points but not killed outright, he can drop to 1 hit point instead. He can them make a melee attack as a reaction.
Savage Attacks. Motzny does an extra 6 (1d12) damage whenever he scores a critical hit.
Action Surge (Recharges after a Short or Long Rest). After taking one action on his turn, Motzny can take one additional action.
Maneuvers (1/Turn). When Motzny hits with a melee weapon attack, he can choose to apply a maneuver to that attack. The attack deals an additional 4 (1d8) damage, and Motzny chooses one of the following effects.
