True Blood Fae

Fae is an umbrella term for all the natural inhabitants of Faerie. There are very few true blood Fae. The royals are a example of true blood Fae.

Naming Traditions

Feminine names

There are again no feminine names.

Masculine names

There are again no masculine names.

Unisex names

The names are unisex and cannot be changed once you receive them. The Fae receive their names but each Fae has a true name. True blood Fae are the only ones whose true names have unlimited power over them. The control over a Fae depends on the amount of true blood in them.

Family names

There are no family names. You get names after a defining characteristic. As a child your family name would be Filius or Filia depending on your gender. Once you reach your majority at 150 years you will receive your family name.

Culture

Major language groups and dialects

The True Blood speak the main language of Faerie, Danaii. They don't have their own language.

Coming of Age Rites

When True Blood Fae come of age the choose their family name and a symbol to fly on their banner.

Funerary and Memorial customs

The True Bloods are cremated on funeral pyres and their ashes are scattered on the wind "to roam the wild world forevermore"

Common Taboos

There are few taboos in True Blood culture as many taboos are self inflicted. The one major taboo is attacking and/or harming another True Blood.

Common Myths and Legends

There is a certain amount of mystery surround true bloods as they are so rare. There are numerous myths and legends surrounding them and how they died out so fast.

Ideals

Beauty Ideals

True blood Fae are typically tall and graceful. Long hair is the ideal. Their eyes are typically the colour of gems or a coveted metal. The rarer the metal the more beautiful they are considered. Having eyes the colour of iron is considered a bad luck omen and the children were often disowned. This practice has died out with the new child protection laws but the stigma still remains.

Gender Ideals

There are very few gender ideals as the True Blood are typically androgynous and there is little to none gender dimorphism. Male True Bloods are typically the hunters and gatherers but there is little need for it nowadays. There have always been Queens on the Fae throne as it is a tradition from ages past and no one wishes to disrespect the past Queens.

Courtship Ideals

Since there are few True Blood Fae left the courting ritual have become lost over time. The courting ritual for the Queens is that all true blood suitors across Faerie come to present themselves to the Queens at a time of their choosing in order to provide an heir.

Major organizations

The True Blood Fae are the long standing Queens of Faerie.
