Rose, Rumor, Wave, Weave VIII
"Focus on where you want to go," Alphosces said. "It works best if you've seen it. Picture it. Draw it to you."
Temerity frowned, concentrating on a point in the distance. She took a step, and after several more she was finally able to pull the point to her. Alphosces was next to her in a moment.
"Not bad. But remember, you're not going somewhere. You're bringing it to you. You're reshaping the world to be where you want to be."
"You make it sound so simple," Temerity said.
"It is simple." Alphosces held a hand out to her. "Come."
Temerity took his hand uncertainly. He stepped forward, and a moment later they were standing at the edge of a cliff. Withered plants grew along the edge of the stone.
"Let me show you something." Without another word, Alphosces pushed her over the cliff.
Temerity's eyes widened, and after a startled yelp, she slammed into the ground hundreds of feet below.
A split second passed, and then she gasped for breath and sat up quickly. Alphosces was next to her, laughing. She glared.
"What was that for?" she demanded
"Hundreds of feet and you're not even harmed." He held out a hand to pull her up. "This is our world, Temerity, as you've been told many times before. Everything here, plants, animals, every bit of life withers and dies. Except us. We cannot die here, because this place belongs to us and our reality is what we make it. Wounds never existed. And the shape of the world is whatever you want it to be."
Temerity took several deep breaths and slowly brushed herself off.
"Try again," Alphosces said gently.
Temerity closed her eyes, picturing Chishira's garden. She took a single step, and when she opened her eyes, she and Alphosces were in the garden.
