Rose, Rumor, Wave, Weave IV

It was a few weeks before Temerity had another proper talk with Chishira. Ripple, Jin, and Mirage were out when Chishira approached her, sitting in the chair across from her.   "You've been holding out on me~" Chishira sang. "Haven't you, Temerity Veretta?"   Temerity blinked. "Where did you hear that?" she asked warily.   "Oh, around. But that's not the point! This is wonderful! You know what this means, right?"   "No, I... Don't believe I do."   Chishira smiled widely. "Well, it means I really shouldn't kill you for one! But more importantly, it means you're basically my... Sister? Cousin? Niece? Something like one of those!"   Temerity stared at her. "I'm not entirely sure I follow."   Chishira leaned back and crossed her arms, grinning. "Tell me, what do you know about Love?"   Temerity raised an eyebrow. "I suppose I've been in love, but most would say it is always a mystery."   "I'm not talking about being in love. I'm asking how much your parents told you about your ancestors."   Realization dawned on Temerity. "Oh." She was silent for a while. "They told me that Love angered Alphosces and caused our family to lose his blessing by choosing to be with an outsider."   "Well, that's not exactly right." Chishira kicked her feet. "He never really cared about it being an outsider. He just cared because of which outsider it was. Love chose to be with the one person he should not have chosen."   "And who was that?"   Chishira leaned forward. "The one who should not have existed. The last of the Amaned Yaara."   Temerity was silent, letting the words sink in. "The Veretta family and the Amaned Yaara... Were joined?"   "For a time," Chishira said. "And during that time, they produced their own line--two daughters, who had the blood of the two greatest families in history."   Temerity's breath caught for a moment, then she looked at Chishira. "You and Eden."   Chishira smiled. "Me and Eden."   "... How old are you?"   Chishira laughed. "Let's just say the Feywild does wonders for the skin."   Temerity smiled faintly. "I can see that."   Chishira stood up and walked over to Temerity. "You see? I'm not sure exactly what you would call us, but we're family."   Temerity stood as well. "I haven't had the best experience with blood relatives in the past."   "All the more reason for me to change that." She opened her arms. "Will you forgive me for the failings of our family?"   Temerity stepped forward to accept the embrace. "There's nothing to forgive."
