Angels and Devils X
Temerity yawned as she made her way up to the top floor. She smiled casually at a couple people she passed, then finally reached her destination.
"Evening, Stel," she said. "Long day, huh?"
"Every day is," the Dragon Knight said. "Have a good night, Tem."
"You too," Temerity replied. She entered the room. Eisna was sitting on the bed, deep in thought. "Eisna?"
He looked over at her, was quiet for a moment, then sighed. "I was just thinking about today. What if we made a mistake? If this makes things worse? Maybe we should have been less harsh, or maybe... We should've just brought all of them in."
"Hey," Temerity said quietly. She knelt in front of him and pushed his hair out of his face. "There are two paths in a wood. You don't know what exactly is down them, but it doesn't matter. Why?"
Eisna smiled faintly. "Because they both lead to the same place."
"Where?"
"The battlefield." Eisna looked at her. "The only thing that matters is how much you doubt yourself on the way."
"Exactly." Temerity sat next to him. "There's no escaping it. You know that as well as I do. We have to trust ourselves."
"You're right, as always." His smile widened a bit. "Thank you."
"You know I support you. I always will."
"I know." He paused. "... And I support you too, Temerity. I know I get a bit... Frustrated sometimes, but this insistence you have about your graduation... I know it's something you have to do. It's something you want. I would never take that away from you, even if it makes things a bit more difficult for us. It's worth it."
Temerity smiled at him. "It is worth it, isn't it." She leaned back to look up at the ceiling. "One day... It'll all work out. You and me, the empire, the world... We'll have everything we ever wanted."
