Angels and Devils III

"The rebels were, naturally, beaten back swiftly, with few Brimeran casualties," the lecturer said, tapping the board with a piece of chalk. "But that wasn-" His eyes narrowed. "Temerity!"   Lukan jumped and looked over to Temerity, nudging her awake. "Temmy..."   Temerity's eyes blinked open. "Hm...?"   "If you know so much that you can sleep in class, why don't you come up here and tell us about the First War?" the lecturer sneered.   Temerity yawned. "Aye-aye, sir." She stood up. "The First War was a conflict within the Brimeran Empire, in which the citizens of the second continent took up arms against the empire. It was short lived, as the rebels were, naturally, beaten back swiftly, with few Brimeran casualties. Many people on the second continent died, leaving them in need of the empire's assistance, so they returned to the empire requesting aid. The empire, benevolent as it is, obliged." She sat down.   The lecturer grunted. "Try using your own words next time, instead of just copying from the textbook."   "Just following your example, sir."   The lecturer glared at her, then returned to teaching.   Lukan glanced over at Temerity. "You shouldn't sleep in class, Temmy... You'll just get into more trouble..."   Temerity shrugged. "Doesn't matter much. He knows I'll pass his class anyway."   "But-"   "Don't worry about me, Luke. You've got your test coming up. Focus on that, okay?"   Lukan fidgeted a bit, glancing at her a few times. "... You're coming right?"   Temerity smiled. "Of course. Wouldn't miss it for the world."   "Good..." Lukan looked down. "Rather not be alone with all the captains if I fail."   Temerity sighed and ruffled his hair. "You'll be fine, Luke. Even if you don't pass. No one passes their first time."
