Do you know him? Old Whisper? He dwells within all of us. You feel it, I know you do. That emptiness inside you, that's him... I wonder: Have you heard the whispers yet? They came like a wave, for me.
I gave in. I decided to look into that empty void and I fell in love. It was his eyes... eyes that glitter.
Do you really think this is the first universe he has consumed? What can you do?
He eats stars...
And we are all made of stars.
A world that is ripping at the seems, succumbing to a natural entropy that is destined to consume all. The Expeditions of Estoya seek to fix the world, but a being beyond all reason stalks the shadows. A stranger to existence who hurries the coming end, tearing reality asunder. The universe is sick, time and space bend and stretch, and in certain corners of the world, signs of Mania and Melancholia force their effect on reality.
Expedition Demeter is the last of 13 daring expeditions. A sacrifice to some, a suicide mission to others. Explorers come from across the land to assist. Led by a pathfinder, eccentric rangers effected by the sickness of reality, you will build the roads that will never stretch, you will forge alliances with empires, or thru your actions, watch them crumble into ash. You will right the wrongs in reality, or be the first to witness its final breath.
This is a setting for an RPG system that I use for my group. I created my own system to go along with it and am always interested in finding players and gms willing to playtest.
