Zuubo Birds

The people of the Nation of Bata have over many generations domesticated a large long-winged blue coloured bird to act as a working tool for their society. The Zuubo Bird lives within the family in most cases and will fetch items for the family and will also transport family members around their city. They are trained to do this by using a few common terms as instructions and, over time, receiving positive feedback.

Human Society in the Nation of Bata is in the vast majority tree-based with all their major human settlements to be found in the canopies of forests. The Zuubo Birds have been trained to carry large 2 handle baskets with their feet and will carry these around the cities to a few regular locations that they have learned.
In addition to the carrying of baskets, they can also work in pairs to carry humans in larger baskets in what is essentially a flying carrier service operation. In this way, they provide a common and frequently utilized transportation option for the Bata people. Most families have several baskets and at least one larger human size basket for the bird's usage.
Most families in Bata have a family of Zuubo Birds living inside their compound. This usually happens with the humans living in the upper parts of the trees and the Zuubo Birds living in the mid-tree area, just above the large spreading of the branches. The Birds are trained by the individual families but often the family members need to attend class themselves to learn how to train the Zuubo Birds more efficiently. In recent years there has been a push by some people to introduce more mechanization into Beta society however the practice of breeding and training the Zuubo Bird is so ingrained into the society there has been little success in their replacement.
