Reserve Empress Fli

The position of the Reserve Empress in the Kingdom of Ambergris has always been one of power and intrigue. There have been many Reserve Empresses throughout history that have been the most powerful person in the empire even on occasions eclipsing their emperor.
Technically the Empress is the second most powerful person in the Empire, behind the Emperor, with the First male Child holding the third most important role. The Reserve Empress is often the one the Emperor loves the most as the Empress herself is often a marriage for political reasons while the Reserve Empress is often more a marriage of passion. 
With this, the Reserve Empress often has more power over the Emperor and often produces the first male child. This has however often ended in a warlike relationship between the Empress and the Reserve Empress however knowing this the Empire has a strict rule that a Reserve Empress can never become an Empress, therefore, protecting the Empress in some small way. 
One of the most famous Reserve Empress was the Reserve Empress Fli. She lived about 500 years ago and managed the palace through a turbulent 80 years period where half the male born children were killed or deposed and her own children rose to prominence. 
She used her beauty and her skill as a lover, especially to illicit partnerships with married court officers. therefore extending her influence beyond the Emperor himself but also into the highest ranks of the Army and the bureaucracy. It was estimated that throughout her 80 years in the court she took on more than 100 lovers for mainly political purposes. She was however very careful and it is believed that her 8 children were all fathered by the emperor as they all possessed a similarity to his appearance in later years.  Her oldest Son later became Emperor and she lived to see her Grandson also become Emperor.
