Basic Information

Genetics and Reproduction

Although bronze dragons always live near water, they laid their eggs in a dry cave. A newly hatched bronze wyrmling appears yellow with a tinge of green, and the scales will gradually shift to bronze as it matures. Bronze wyrmlings love to swim in the ocean, and frolic in much the same manner as dolphins.

Ecology and Habitats

Bronze dragons are often found along the coastal regions of the world. They like to dwell along the sea, to make use of their aquatic abilities, while staying close to humanoid settlements. Given its exceptional abilities as a swimmer, the entrance to a bronze dragon's lair was quite naturally underwater, and often disguised with seaweed and coral. The bulk of the lair is above water level, however, consisting of multiple tunnels and large chambers, some as much as a thousand feet above sea level.

Additional Information

Facial characteristics

The dragon have three large horns protruding from each cheek, pointing back towards the tail. The tips of these points are black and very sharp, and often used for grooming. The tongue is purple-gray, long, pointed, and non-forked. A large frill runs down the upper part of its neck.

Civilization and Culture

Courtship Ideals

There is no formal courtship for bronzes. Permission and consultation from parents of both bronzes is required.   Partnerships between two bronzes can be lifelong, but typically last long enough for any young between the union to be fostered to young adulthood.

Relationship Ideals

They would have protected their eggs and their wyrmlings at any cost. Upon hatching, the wyrmlings are raised, taught, and protected by their parents.   Bronzes are raised to give high respect towards their parents, much so, bronzes regularly visit every 50 years. If a bronze dragon has no living parents, they will visit mentors and those they have mentored.

Major Language Groups and Dialects

Common within the regions they occupy and previous occupations. True Draconic, the language among dragons differs from dragonkin.

Common Etiquette Rules

Do unto others as you would have others do unto you.
Frequently, bronzes will go on treasure hunting expeditions. When in a pack of bronzes are apart of an expedition, the treasure is divided by age.   Less territorial around other bronzes and brass dragons, as they frequently live in closer proximity than most other dragons.   They will never share hoards or divulge its hiding place.   They have strong moral compunctions against killing living beings unless absolutely necessary. When in battle, bronzes use their repulsion breath to cause lesser enemies to flee. Also, like to relocate a foe to a remote location where it can do no harm when possible. Observing the Cuvar of Torch Key's history can show an exception to this moral compunction during total warfare.

Common Customs, Traditions and Rituals

Bronzes have great respect for power and knowledge amongst elders. Young dragons are expected to go on a pilgrimage to elder(s).

Interspecies Relations and Assumptions

They truly enjoyed observing and interacting with smaller creatures, most especially humans. They would go out of their way to help them, such as rescuing humans from a shipwreck or a dangerous foe. Usually, the bronze stick to the background, transforming into a humanoid form when enacting with other humanoid races, or other indirect means.   Frequently, bronzes will go on treasure hunting expeditions. When the bronze dragon goes on an expedition with humanoids, the dragon will not reveal its true form, unless forced to do so. Schools of dolphins and whales could be bronze dragons escorting a friendly ship, or leading an expedition under the waves.
