Blackpool
History:
Blackpool was founded on the year 7865, with the first Pirate King, Alexander 'Ol' Crusty' Brecket, defeated a great sea monster known as 'the Silumgar' and taking the ruins of Zakythros as a base for his fleet. The coalition of pirates living in Blackpool is the only large pirate settlement, being hard to find and even harder to attack. Smaller settlements of pirates were wiped out by Arcadian warships, leading to migration to Blackpool over time.Government and Laws:
Government: Democratic Oligarchy. Blackpool is run by a coalition of captains (each elected by there own crew) with the Admiral (or pirate king) being elected by the other captains as a martial coordinator and figurehead. The general populace is not taxed, instead crews give 85% of the acquired goods from their raids to be split among the population equally, and the rest is put into the captain's treasure vault to be given out as they choose. Laws: Blackpool has no written law, only that which is generally agreed upon by the populace. The three socially agreed on laws are thus: 1. Blackpool may have no official king or law 2. While in the city you may not pirate from another without need, or you gain a bounty on your head and become an outcast 3. Mutiny and treason is death or exileCommon Building Materials and Styles:
Blackpool doesn't have any naturally occurring lumber so buildings are often crafted from reused timbers from ships and bones from various sea animals, along with the natural shale and clay of the island. A typical building is part of a stack of similar buildings or carved into the cliff side of the island to allow for maximum space efficiency. Houses not built into the side of the mountain usually have a bottom floor made of layered shale, with scrapped oak or pine beams making up the upper body of the building, with roofing usually involving gabled shingling and a large clay chimney. Most buildings are a rectangle or square and have a main room that contains most functions of the house, with only personal areas having a wall to separate them. The main room of the bottom floor has a large fire pit that extends out from the chimney, and often contains a kitchen, a table and chairs, and a chest containing the denizens worldly belongings and treasure. Common additional affects added to buildings tend to be large pieces of bone, especially whale ribs, being placed along the inner lining of entrances and rooms, creating a sturdy feel.Rumors, Jobs, and Current Events:
Resources and Trade:
Blackpool being the pirate capital of the world and being built on a desolate rock in the middle of the ocean doesn't rely on trade for its economy, instead making its money doing piracy. Other than stealing, the only resources collected and processed here are the prolific amount of fishing and bat and bird guano that occur as part of the islands natural ecosystem and the creations of the many advanced artificers who use the town as their base of operations.Locations

Natural Formations and Vista Points:
Blackpool is built into a natural atoll surrounded by a huge reef. The sides of the atoll create a shear cliff, separating the city from the outside world by a 1000 foot wall of shale. The atoll has a series of caves running through the inside of the wall, leading deep underground. The top of the cliff is 10 feet thick at its thinnest, and 50 feet thick at its thickest. The only entrances into Blackpool are through a gap in the cliff, leading to the inner bay of the atoll or from above.Defensive Infrastructure:
The defensive infrastructure of Blackpool include large seated mortars, designed by Grumble, and large iron spikes planted in the reef that reach just below the surface, hooking most boats heading towards the island. The seated mortars are large cannons operated by goblins that hang from the cliffs of the island. They can be aimed slowly, and bombs used as ammunition is carried up in sets of five by goblin ordnance-runners over a rather dangerous series of ridges and rope bridges.Sewers and Aquaducts:
One of Blackpool's main pieces of infrastructure is a huge series of steam pipes connected to its forge, powering multiple mechanisms throughout the city. The steam works power a massive portcullis to block the entrance to the island, the pumps to the cities public bathrooms, and ship repair lifting mechanism, and the automatized forging system.Districts and Docking:
