Thremil City

Thremil City is also known as the floating city due to it literally floating above the great plain within the foewland landscape. It is a city home to the The Court of Mages and is a hub for all things related to the arcane.   History   Thremil City wasn't always floating. Around 250-300 years ago, the city lay directly beneath the floating landmass upon which it stands today. During that time it was known as Three Mills City due to its origins being farmland and three large windmills were what kept the farm running. From there it grew and grew into the city it once was.    Then came the rule of King Kairon and Queen Audrey Thewlis. Everything was going really well for the first 14 years of their reign. Then a group of hags in disguise came looking for aid in a matter now lost to ether of time, and was turned away by the crown. In retaliation, the hags created a blood plague that ripped through the city. The king put Three Mills on lockdown and prevented noone to leave or enter the city.   Over the next few months his best men worked tirelessly to get a cure of the ground or something to help the population. It was incredibly slow going and it took so long that the Queen and her children caught the plague, however the king try as he might seemed to be immune. Now working with samples of the kings blood, the head apothocaries of the court could not find a solution.   After a month of illness, the Queen and her children sadly died. Wracked with grief, the king murdered his apocatheries and ordered wood stocks to be set up around the city. Then ordered the city to be burned to the ground. The council of mages heard of this plan and raced to stop it, depsite many pleas, the king would not revoke the order. At some point during the heated debate, the king was killed. Acting quickly, the council took over and saved what was left of the city. Over two thirds of Three Mills lay in ash, thousands dead, the city in shambles.    The court handed power back to the king's advisors who refused to take it and told them to rebuild in the way they saw fit. Taking on the mantle, the council vowed it would be temporary until a new monarch could be found. They rebuilt the city on top of the floating landmass that had hovered above their heads for as long as history recalls, and set up teleportation sites in the new city and on the ground below. All trace of Three Mills has been wiped from the great plain and the new city names Thremil as homage to their beginnings
