The Shania Desert

Geography

The Shania Desert is vast expanse of barren sands. Pockets of cacti grow at random intervals throughout and many dunes flow through the desert creating the visual that the desert is ebbing and flowing like the sea.

Fauna & Flora

The Shania Desert is known for its various different varieties of cacti. Many of these are harvested for medicinal and wellbeing purposes. Along side the cacti themselves, its not unheard of for people to harvest the flowers and liquids inside of them.   The most notable cacti breed in this desert is Duskpine, whose flesh is commonly used for protection from the sun. The flesh can also be crushed, releasing the juices from within which make for great hair conditioner. The flowers are normally used to make medicinal teas and various pultices. The spines also come in handy in the making of sterile tools, i.e, tattoos   One of the major dangers deep into the desert are the Sandwyrms, large wormlike creatures that burrow under the sands and leap up, trapping you in their mouth lined with over 500 teeth. They are capable of waiting well over 12 hours in one spot in order to catch prey

Natural Resources

Natural resources here are abundant, despite the lack of water. Just simply scraping back the surface sands can reveal beautiful gemstones carved by the shifting lands. The cool, damp sand further down offers great fertile land. There has also been a couple of underground caverns found deep in the desert which have provided the means of mining resources, though it is well know that these caverns in particular will only last for a limited time before they are mined dry.   In addition to the various cacti, there are still plenty of hardwood trees that grow throughout. Most are used in the frameworks of new buildings, however, there are some trees that have barks so tough they use them in constructing armor and tools. Not suitable for weapon making unfortuanely
