Elfine Leafcakes

In the Evenacht, ghosts interact with their environment using Touch, a spirit magick. This is how they manipulate their essence into moving, talking, and interacting with the evening lands.
Ghosts must learn Ether Touch quickly; that is how they manipulate their wispy form. Physical Touch is more difficult to pick up because "ghosts" are souls, not physical bodies. To be able to Touch things and interact with them on a more physical and intimate level, however, ghosts must become experienced at Physical Touch.
Physical Touch is more important to ghosts like painters and bakers, because they wish to hold paint brushes and taste their creations. It is an intense study for most, considering, while alive, they did not possess the ability to use magic. It can take years to be able to literally touch something, let alone pick it up and use it.
It is especially difficult for bakers, cooks, chefs, and other cooking-related individuals. How does a ghost create taste buds when they no longer have taste buds?

Enter Taste Touch

Taste Touch was developed by elfine lorels who desperately wished to taste elfine leafcakes again. It is a special type of Physical Touch used to eat and drink, and then extract energy from the meal, as ghosts absorb energy from mists. It is a study-intensive and failure-prone endeavor, and only the most obessed complete the training.
In honor of successfully being able to taste food again, the first official food ghosts eat are elfine leafcakes, since that tasty pastry began the entire endeavor. The honoree's instructor and friends attend a simple ceremony, where they eat two leafcakes and extract the energy from them before ridding themselves of the remaining mush. This ceremony marks the end of their training, and if successful, they receive a badge that tells potential employers that they can taste the food they make.
