Zlangen

These cold-blooded humanoids look like pale blue snakes with humanoid torsos and have the ability to absorb solar radiation and heat. While so logical that they struggle to process the emotions of other species, they use their talents and the advantage of living on a mobile world to explore the Sector. In, fact most of the systems in the sector use Zlangen names as the snake-people were the first to fully chart them.

Basic Information

Anatomy

Zlangen are Medium Monstrous Humanoids that average between 6-8 feet long at adulthood which translates to about 4-6 feet high when they are "standing" and are light for their size, weighing between 130 and 175 lbs. Their glistening scales range in color from sky to royal blue and their glowing eyes come in all shades of yellow, green, and purple. Male Zlangen have retractable crests on their head which they use as part of a mating dance that is an accurate representation of the dance of the cosmos. Females have patterns of scales on their head of a different shade than their primary coloring. All Zlangen wear clothing to cover the "torso" area of their bodies.

Genetics and Reproduction

Zlangen mate for life, selecting their partner as the final act before adulthood, eventually producing 1 or 2 clutches of 1-4 eggs during their lifetime. The eggs take about 6 months to hatch during which they must be tended to by a parent with both parents often trading off egg sitting duties as needed.

Growth Rate & Stages

A Zlangen matures into a juvenile within a year and will reach adulthood by 15. The average lifespan is 120 years without any life-prolonging magic or technology

Ecology and Habitats

Their planet destroyed in the Gap, the surviving Zlangen now live in the space station turned worldship Veltay which roams throughout the sector but is most commonly found hiding among the plasma clouds in the Tervolkee Nebula
