Iona - Goddess of Death
Lore
Iona is the Goddess of the Soul, Death and Life After Death. She is believed to frequent Eulara, shepherding souls to the planes beyond. Souls that particularly embody the values of one of the Six are thought to be brought to that God’s Realm. She is said to appear to mortals as an old friend or loved one – a friendly or familiar face to accompany them on their journey. Many mortals instinctively fear the Goddess of Death, but followers recognize her gift as a necessary part of the cycle of life. They believe the dead should be treated with respect, and as such necromancy is seen as an affront. In actuality, once a soul has passed into the realm of its patron God or Goddess, what happens to the body after is of no consequence to the Goddess of Death. Priestesses of Iona are widows who have dedicated their lives to helping the living (and sometimes the dead) deal with death and life after death. Becoming a Priestess of Iona involves intentional blindness in exchange for opening another "sight" that gives them seer-like powers. This allows them to see and speak with the recently dead (or long dead in the case of ghosts), as if they are permanently under those effects of the Draught of Living Death (a potion which transports the consciousness of a person to the "in between" where they can see and interact with souls).Cleric Domain

- 21st of Lowsun, 987 AGW - The party visited the Waypoint temple, seeking the resurrection of Fitz. The priestesses here granted them use of the Draught of Living Death, which allowed them to witness the reaping of a soul and speak to Iona. The Goddess granted their wish of resurrection in return for one of them becoming beholden to her - Tybalt accepted this burden.
