Demographics

The population is mainly Over-Dwarves, Light Elves, High Elves and Humans. Some minorities include Tabaxi, Aarakocra, and Halflings.

Government

The Legate in charge of the security of the newly claimed Gallico Province controls the city, as a governor has yet to be sent by the senate. They also command the two occupying legions that are securing the city and the rest of the new territory. This Legate answers to the Senate.

Defences

The city has several large trebuchets that line the outer edge of the city. Most lay in ruin after the recent invasion.    The Narrows are a nasty network of traps all the way up the path to the mountain. Some have been destroyed or damaged by the Legionaries who recently conquered the city.    The city guard, the Bleuets Argenté or Silver Cornflowers, have been moved to a holding camp in an unknown location. Now occupying Legionnaires patrol the streets, enforcing the dictates of their Legate.

Industry & Trade

The mining villages in the mountains beyond the city extract iron, silver, quartz, and marble from the rock. Currently, the city isn't gaining benefit from these villages, however, as they are in open rebellion against the Reustacei invaders. They are engaging in a brutal guerilla war with the occupying legions.   The colleges and the Great Library of Parchemins attract scholars from across Eukrosh and beyond. These centers and the trade that builds up around education and research has allowed this city to become very prosperous.

Infrastructure

To reach the city proper, and the mining villages that rest deeper in the mountain range, one must traverse the Narrows, a 15' wide track that winds along the edge of the plateau and is carved into the cliff edge itself. The Ingénieurs Royaux Corp of Délifleur, with the help of some of the engineers from Megineux University, set up a nasty array of traps and defenses into this track to defend the city.   Alternatively, if one has cargo or a caravan, one could use the Gear Sled. This contraption is a 15' x 15' platform that uses water to raise it from the base of the mountain to the city's main square. The Gear Sled is located at the end of a 200' long tunnel into the mountain's foot. It is much safer, but is heavily guarded and requires a payment to use. This reduces the travel time to the city by 1 to 1 and 1/2 days.

Assets

The College of Medeis is a school that teachs alchemical practices and related methods to its pupils. It is large marble building that is rather blocky in appearance. It is easy to find, as one need only look for the series of large chimneys on it's roof.   The College of Melodum is an institute of the arts. From painting to song, from dance to lore, if one wants instruction in the domains of the gods Corellon and Milil, this is an exemplary school. It has a tastefully decorated exterior with painted details across it's marble face. It also has a series of gardens and verandas in which some of the finer art produced there is displayed or performed.    The oldest of the universities in Bibliotheca, the Medicus University trains all manner of surgeons, and some clerics, in the ways of healing, medicine and surgery. It also functions as an open clinic to those who wish for less expensive treatments, with the caveat that students be able to observe the diagnosis and treatment process. It is characterized by three large domes arranged in a line behind a large columned face, forming an "E" shape.    Megineux University is the place that all scholars wish to go. It has professors that can teach you of almost any subject you desire, and has a very attractive research partnership with the Great Library of Parchemins. It is a tall, circular building made of marble, that is domed at the top.    Travels who find themselves in Bibliotheca will likely shelter at the Luminous Sanctuary. Although one of its three wings was partially ruined during the invasion, and another has been commandeered by the occupying Legion as a barracks, it is still a fine inn. The staff are friendly and quick to help weary guests feel welcome.   The Stained Scroll is a lively tavern that rests across the street from the Luminous Sanctuary. It has 3 sections: a members lounge on the 2nd floor, a high-end restaurant in a quarter the 1st floor, and a loud pub with nightly live music taking up the rest. The atmosphere is a subdued of late, mainly due to the off duty Legionnaires who now frequent the pub.   The Researcher’s Rest is another respectable inn, although it is much smaller. The rooms are nice, and there is a pub in the building. There is always a rough crowd in the pub, who talk low and drink in the back of the bar. The barkeep is a tight lipped Over-dwarf with a long scar along his neck.    Chryssa’s Stores is a general goods store that sells all sorts of materials, supplies and gear. It is a small building and looks pretty rundown, as many things are in disrepair. The owners are a young half-elf and high-elf couple.

Tourism

The Quartz Crypts is a location not far from the town, where it is believed an extinct tribe of Dragonborn buried their dead. No one gets to close as several Wyverns have nested in the cave.   The Great Library of Parchemins is one of the greatest single bastions of knowledge in all of Shyrin. It hosts knowledge, lore and secrets from all corners of the planes. One could spend a lifetime in its immaculate halls and never read all it contains. The building's design was mirrored by the Megineux University, as the library has been standing for nearly two-thousand years.   At the very edge of the plateau, on the westernmost point of the city, stood a Statue of Bahamut. It was a magnificent statue that was crafted nearly one-thousand years ago. It had silver inlaid in it and it's said that it glowed bright in the dark of night. Sadly it was sundered during the invasion, and the Legate decreed it would not be repaired - as worship of Bahamut is illegal in Reustacei - and instead had the Legion place it's banner atop of the ruined statue.

Architecture

Most of the city is constructed from stone brick with slate tile roofing, both of which are quarried nearby. The architecture for the public buildings follows the Early Gothic Style and is constructed of locally sourced marble.

Geography

The city rests high upon a large, artificial mountain plateau. It was excavated by giants during their golden age, and was later claimed by the early dwarven and human settlers. The cliffs are nearly sheer, and are solid deposits of marble.    The mining villages are built into the sides of the mountains themselves, further and higher up into the Orageux Mountains.

Natural Resources

The city is surrounded by large veins of iron, silver, and quartz. Marble is also quarried from the earth.
