Wells of Glisterwax Myth in Ethnis | World Anvil

Wells of Glisterwax

The Wells of Glisterwax were a supposed massive source of Glisterwax within the Gleaming, available for anyone who can survive the journey.

A lake of it, sprawling out towards the horizon, bubbling with figures and shapes familiar and frightening. Limbs malformed and decaying reach up from its depths, grow to discomfiting lengths and proportions and then fall apart, breaking into chunks and globs and floes of that precious, vile material--glisterwax.

A bloodstain miles wide

A theorized beginning of the Wells of Glisterwax is that they mark the gravesites of Mar'rianiyah's battles against the Ancient Haimarchy and of sites of torment. Others claim that they are wellsprings from intersections in metaphysical leylines, but that theory is limited to those who believe in leylines.

A Source of Decay

It is believed that these wells of Glisterwax were the main source of Glisterwax for Glistering Gabriel's initial venture, as well as being where Brood Blood-Kyn's composed her first forays into controlling Selschaeus.

Long Gone

In the Reclamation of FalguMer'rh, Digger and Marianiyah cleaned up and destroyed the GlisterWax wells.

Myths

Locals believed that the putrid soul of Jhoutai lay in the depths of their land, in that place where the hills rose and fell like lungs, where rivers ran with blood and where trees reached out like hands.
