Etymology

Shortly before the dawn of the Expansion Era, during a period of explosive growth within the spaceflight industries Tower Spoke, there was the Pre-Expansion War of Terms.   This cultural "war" was generally unseen—even by those waging it. It was a war for what terminology would reign as the common schema for terms of science and advancement going forward.   On the front of standardizing the term for space-faring vehicles were several belligerents:  Aeai, spoken by the Haimarchy, who kicked off the expansion by discovering an index in the hands of Alephus in Tomb of the Sovereigns.  Saza and Ubiq, spoken by the Pact.   • A mixture of Earth languages and Ubiq from the Syndicate.  Edenic, the unified language of the Somnancy.   Saza was disqualified for being too connotative for science; Edenic fell out due to the isolated nature of the Somnancy. Ubiq, backed by both the Pact and Syndicate, mixed with Aeai to become the standard.   The final terms mixed the human romanticization of space as an ocean with the Verin concepts of romanticization of space as an auric plane beyond the sky, and as the source of the power of the Sovereign. This concept, ran over the Ubiq tongue, resulted in Wayships: vessels which navigate the Way and its Halls.

Credit to BB13 for mentioning 'Wayships' when we were discussing alternative terms for spacecraft while discussion on the server, which DreamMaker related to the WayHall and got me thinking on.
