The Island of Invaedrel
The Island of Perpetual Mist is the largest island in Etherea. Located 200 miles east of the city of Ashdun, the island as its name implies is surrounded by a thick mist that completely covers the island ever since the destruction of the grand city of Invaedrel that was built upon it during the War of the Radiance. Few men have sailed to the island since, and none have returned. Many believe the island is cursed and infested with Hellspawn. But the island’s secret and far more sinister and dangerous.
After the War of the Radiance, many inhabitants of the City of Invaedrel were taken captive to Bluecastle, where they were tortured and experimented upon. One such inhuman experiment was the forced breeding of humans and demons. The mages of Bluecastle found out that the offspring of such unions have the power to bend Hellspawn to their will. These half human, half demon creatures were named warlocks. Many of the warlocks died due to subsequent experiments.
One night the desperate warlocks attempted to escape from the prison in which they were held. They used their demonic powers to burn down the prison along with a large part of the town of Bluecastle. However the Bluecastle army killed all the warlocks except one. One warlock escaped and swore revenge upon all of humanity for what he and his family was put through. This warlock fled to the island of Invaedrel and began plotting his revenge. He summoned the mists to hide the island form humans, and began raising an army of Hellspawn, waiting for the day he would unleash the terrors he had been building upon the world of men.
