Remora Class Light Carrier
The Remora was a simple answer to a complicated question. How to transport troops from one planet to another in a timely fashion. This was easier said than done considering the need to carry dropships and space to house its passengers. Further complications arose from the need to rapidly deploy troops, requiring expert piloting, an overclocked jump drive, and a sophisticated jump computer.
Imaginatively nicknamed "the flying brick" the Remora was a very simple construction of a oblong structure containing the livingspaces for the crew and any passengers. On the hull 32 dropship locks would hold craft in place. It as designed with a faster-spooling jump drive, allowing it to jump in just four hours, but this came at a cost in comfort It's only armament was a pair of P-I tubes with four weapons each. It lacked any targeting computer bar the missile's own, and absolutely no detectors. It was completely reliant on its escort vessels.
It was thoroughly disliked by its crews and passengers and did not fully satisfy Sumnia's need for a dropship carrier. At best it was a stopgap measure before Sumnia designed the Hive Class Carrier. Forty were built, and all were eventually destroyed in combat.
